Japanese Straightening, also known as thermal reconditioning, is a thio-based chemical procedure which uses heat to restructure the hair’s protein bond, enabling those with frizzy, curly, or wavy hair to experience permanently straight hair while at the same time preserving the health and improving the feel, texture, softness, & shine, leaving the hair completely manageable.

You can have it pin straight or we can maintain just the right amount of curl or wave, while eliminating the bulkiness and frizz.

Will my hair be pin straight?
Not necessarily. With the Lisicio thermal reconditioning system we have the ability to customize the amount of curl you would like to control. Depending on your hair type, we are able to relax excessive curl while maintaining fullness and body. Or if you prefer, we can make it permanently straight.
I have frizzy hair. Will it help to control that?
Yes, with the Liscio treatment not only will your hair be permanently frizz free, your hair will have incredible sheen as well.
How is it different from a Brazilian Blowout or a Keratin Treatment?
One of the primary differences is that keratin are temporary, coating the hair to make it less frizzy and more smooth whereas thermal reconditioning is a chemical process that penetrates into the bonds of the hair, permanently changing the structure to make it straight. The keratin does not limit your color or highlight options. The thermal reconditioning does limit your color and highlight options. How long will the Liscio Thermal Reconditioning last?
Once the hair has been thermally reconditioned, it will remain relaxed or straight until it grows out and/or is cut off. Root touch-ups generally need to be done between 4-8 months, sometimes longer.
Will it damage my hair?
First, it is imperative that you have a certified, knowledgeable and experienced technician performing the service. We only allow our Liscio certified stylists to perform this service. Second, having a superior product is very important. Liscio is the best thermal reconditioning product available in the world. We do require a consultation prior to the service as clients with overly damaged hair would not be good candidates for thermal reconditioning. We may also recommend a a deep conditioning treatment prior to your service to insure optimum results. Follow up conditioning treatments are highly recommended for all thermal reconditioning clients to maintain the general health and luster of their hair.
I am African American. Can I do a Liscio Thermal Reconditioning over my hair that has had a relaxer?
The Liscio thermal reconditioning system is excellent for African American or any other ethnic hair type. The difference of the condition of the hair that has been previously straightened with a sodium hydroxide relaxer and a Liscio Japanese straightening is amazing. Your hair will be healthier, stronger and have luster and shine like you have never seen before. However, if you currently have a sodium hydroxide relaxer on your hair you will require a special consultation to discuss details on how we will help you to get the optimum health back to your hair while converting from a relaxer to a Liscio Thermal Reconditioning treatment.
