All About Balayage

Balayage.

Have you tried it yet? This trend has been around for years now and shows no sign of disappearing.

No surprise here at Salon Khouri. It’s a favorite with our clients. If you are looking for hair color that looks natural, requires little maintenance and is gorgeous, balayage highlights are for you.

Color Balayage lookWhat exactly is balayage?

If you aren’t completely familiar, let’s start with the basics:

Balayage is French, for “sweep” or “paint.”

Fancy French words aside…

It’s simply a technique where your stylist hand paints highlights or dye directly on the hair. This is different compared to traditional all over hair color or foils traditionally used in the salon.

Although most people are familiar with the type of balayage highlights that start dark at the crown and get lighter at the ends, this isn’t the only look you can achieve with this kind of technique.

A skilled stylist can freehand different colors along with highlights to create a unique look with different shades that looks natural and sunkissed.

Why is Balayage popular?

Celebrities are trendsetters and balayage has been going strong in Hollywood with beloved celebrities like Drew Barrymore, Jessica Alba, and Jennifer Lawrence, to name a few. All it takes is a quick Google search to see these beauties with their own personal version of sun-kissed balayage hair.

Unlike traditional hair color it requires less maintenance. Our busiest clients can go without touch-ups for up to 8 weeks.

And less touch-ups, means less processing, which can lead to healthier, shinier hair!

Who doesn’t want that?
